Nanyan Technology University, a joint venture between LG Electronics and LG Electronics Research, is set to create a new, cutting-edge research center for artificial intelligence (AI).
The Nanyans research center, named Nanyaan, will be housed in the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus.
Nanyan is a research university that is being funded by LG Electronics.
Nanyangs researchers are working on the development of a “brain network” that can process artificial intelligence applications.
It is hoped that the technology will allow researchers to build artificial intelligence systems with the capabilities of people who already possess advanced degrees in computer science, computer engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics and medical research.
The new research center will be located in the university’s NUS Campus and the Nanyas research center is expected to open in 2021.
“Nanyang is the first major AI research institution to establish its own research and development center in Singapore,” said Ng Wai Tan, vice-president of research and innovation at LG Electronics Singapore.
“This new research and technology hub will provide the NUS with an unparalleled research facility that can be accessed by all researchers worldwide.”
Nanyans focus on artificial intelligence research has been focused on the research of deep learning, neural networks and reinforcement learning, which uses reinforcement learning techniques to create systems that can learn from past actions and learn from future actions.
The goal of this new research is to develop more advanced systems that are able to predict the actions of human beings and perform actions that are more appropriate for human beings.NANYAN is set up in Singapore in partnership with LG Electronics, the global leader in the field of artificial intelligence and computer science.
The center is located on the NUs campus in Singapore’s capital, Singapore.NTU has a total of 6,600 employees across more than 100 departments, according to a press release issued on Monday.NUS will take over the NANYAN research center from LG Electronics in 2021, with the focus being on the implementation of research in artificial intelligence.
This new center will also serve as a hub for the Singapore Institute for Advanced Studies (SISA), a leading academic research and research collaboration network.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for Singapore, as it is one of the leading nations in the world in terms of research,” said Dr Ng Wae Tan, Vice-President of Research and Innovation at LG.
“LG Electronics is well known for its AI technology, and it is in Nanyeng for our AI research hub.
LG will contribute to Singapore’s future innovation and growth through this new facility.”
