Lorex Technology Corp. said on Tuesday that it had detected a new malicious cyberattack targeting the company’s website and other services, as well as some of its data centers, which were “in the highest threat level” from the Russian military.
The Russian military said Tuesday it had been probing the breach of the company, which Lorex acquired in 2014 for $1.6 billion.
The company said in a statement that it is “taking all necessary measures to protect its data from malicious attack.”
It said it is also working with other companies, including those owned by U.S. and European companies, to mitigate the impact.
The attack took place Monday, the company said.
It did not provide further details.
The U.K.-based company’s Chief Technology Officer, Rob Smith, said on Twitter that the attack had been detected on several websites.
The cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said it had reported the breach to the U.N. Security Council and said it believed it was the work of Russia’s military.
CrowdStrike said the Russian government was believed to be behind the hack.
